Stirling CAB Awareness Day
Thistle Centre on Saturday 21st September between 10 – 4pm
Volunteers from Stirling CAB will be raising awareness of the fact that they are a charity & of the work they do for the community, outside the Thistle Centre on Saturday 21st September between 10 – 4pm. Stirling CAB are also looking to raise funds for their vital work, recruit volunteers and also explore any other help that the community can offer.
Stirling CAB is a local charity, based in Stirling, offering advice & support to people in reduced circumstances. Stirling CAB ensures that individuals do not suffer through ignorance of their rights, their responsibilities or of the services available to them; or through and inability to express their needs effectively. Last year we supported over 4000 individuals and gave advice over 11,000 times.
Bureau Manager Craig Anderson said: “Everyone knows that their local CAB offers free, impartial and confidential advice on a wide range of subjects. But not everybody realises that 95 per cent of CAB advisers are, in fact, trained volunteers, local people giving up just a few hours of their time each week to help their community. People also don’t understand that we are a charity and the purpose of the CAB awareness day is to inform people of our charitable status, look for donations of time or money and to explain first hand the things we can do for Stirling citizens. And because we always want our staff to reflect the community they serve, we hope people of all ages and backgrounds will be interested in finding out more about volunteering and supporting their local CAB. It’s interesting, it’s worthwhile, it’s fun – it can offer you such a lot of things. “
